Easter is a Christian festival which is used to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day of his crucifixion as described in New Testament. There is a forty-day period called Lent before Easter when prayers and fasting are done. The Last Week of Lent is called the Holy Week and it consists of Maundy Thursday to remember Maundy and the Last Supper of Jesus. It also remembers the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ which is the Good Friday. Easter is known with different names in different places such as Easter Day, Easter Sunday, Resurrection Day etc. Easter Day is a moveable feast which means the date of Easter is not fixed. It has been declared earlier on different days depending on the various calendars. The celebration of Easter happens between 4th April and 8th May. Easter has its link with the Jewish “Passover” festival considering the symbolism as well as according the time of celebration in the Calendar. Easter is celebrated in different ways in different countries. The most popular practice is the coloring and dying of the Easter eggs. Easter baskets are prepared for the children. The children wake up and find that the Easter Bunny has kept the Easter Basket for them and children find out the Easter Eggs from their own houses and from the neighbor’s. The child who can find the maximum Easter Eggs gets the prize.
