Every year Christmas is celebrated on 25th of December to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a cultural and religious celebration for the Christians around the world. In many nations of the world, Christmas is a national holiday. Though the exact date and year of the birth of Christ is unknown but the Western Christianity has started 25th December as the day of Christmas Celebration which was later followed by the Eastern Christianity. Many non-Christians also participate in the Christmas celebrations throughout the world. A number of practices are done to celebrate Christians. Some of them are traditional and some have got modified with respect to the changes in the society and the modern practices and preferences of the people. On the Christmas Eve Christmas Carols are sung which is an age-old practice. The children as well as the adults wait eagerly to get the gift from the Santa Claus which is the main attraction of the Christmas in the modern time. People attend the church for their Christmas prayers. The houses are decorated with streamers, balloons and above and all with the Christmas tree. Special meals get prepared for the Christmas such as the Christmas pudding, roast turkey, Christmas cake and the members of the family enjoy the meal and dinner together. Christmas lights, holly and Bethlehem Stars are put in all the houses to remember Christ. Card and gift giving is very common practice during Christmas.
